Frustrated Fuller Looks To Next Season
1 September 2014
James Fuller is to have surgery on his frustrating foot injury with a view to being fully fit for the start of next season.
The pace bowler has been under treatment for a stress reaction and has not played for the first team since the end of May.
Director of cricket John Bracewell told this website: “James hurt his foot again in a recent second XI game. We needed to test it out to see if it was getting better so we could make a decision on whether an operation was necessary.
“We will now get that done and dusted so that James has the winter to recover and will hopefully be fully fit by the beginning of next season.”
James had taken 18 wickets in six LV=County Championship games this summer when injury struck, including 6-47 against Surrey at The Oval.
John added: “It was particularly unfortunate because he was showing every indication of having a good season,
“While the injury is termed a stress reaction, it might as well have been a stress fracture because the symptoms are so similar and the recovery period just as long.”
