Formula There To Beat Kent - Michael

29 May 2014

Michael Klinger believes Gloucestershire are discovering a formula to be successful at Twenty20 cricket.

And the skipper is hoping to put it into practice in the NatWest T20 Blast match against Kent at Canterbury tomorrow evening (7pm start).

Gloucestershire wiped out the two-point penalty imposed at the start of the competition by beating Middlesex convincingly in their last outing.

That followed a decent bowling and fielding display in the opening defeat by Somerset and Michael is seeing signs of something to build on

The skipper told this website: “We now have a formula for the way we want to go about things in T20 cricket and it is a case of playing that and executing our skills on the night.

“James Fuller has made early inroads for us in both games so far and we hope that continues.

“I’m happy with the way we have bowled against Somerset and Middlesex. There is still room for improvement in the batting, but we managed to complete the job in our last match and can take encouragement from that.

“It was a tough assignment starting from two points behind in the group, but I am still hopeful that we can make an impression on it.

“With the competition spread over a longer period, it is not so easy to get on a roll, but if we bring our A game to each fixture, who knows?

“The two away matches coming up against Kent and Sussex will give us a better idea of where we are.”

Tomorrow’s fixture will be Kent’s first home match in the NatWest T20 Blast, but they go into it on the back of a resounding win over Somerset at Taunton and have named an unchanged squad.

Gloucestershire CCC 12 man squad :-  M Klinger, C Dent, A Gidman, H Marshall, I Cockbain, B Howell, C Herring, J Fuller, T Smith, J Taylor, G McCarter, L Norwell
