Former Players Day

14 June 2016

On Sunday 22nd May, Former Players' Reunion Day was hosted here at the Brightside Ground, Bristol during the first day of the Specsavers County Championship match v Northamptonshire. This gave many former Gloucestershire players the chance to meet up and have a fantastic day with one another and reminisce on many memories.

Not only was it Former Players' day on the Sunday, we also hosted Memorabilia Day which gave fans the opportunity to purchase and win prizes that the former players had all signed. This was a charitable venture and all proceeds went to the GCCC Heritage Trust which is creating the future Museum and Learning Centre on the Brightside Ground.

It was a special day for everyone involved with Gloucestershire County Cricket Club as it was wonderful to see so many familiar faces in and around the Ground for this annual event. Many of the former players had discussed how fantastic the Pavilion is looking and how the new Floodlights have added so much to the Brightside Ground. Not only have things changed at the Ground, but the game itself has evolved and changed. Former Gloucestershire legend Tony Brown had spoke about how everything has changed since he started playing cricket and how much Gloucestershire has elevated their status.

What was most notable, was the compliments that were given about the direction of the club and the way things were moving progressively here at Gloucestershire. Everyone here at the Club would like to thank all of the Former Players and Wives who came along and attended this great annual event.
