Former GCCC Stars to deliver Coaching Workshops

Coaches will have the chance to pick up tips from the likes of former-Gloucestershire star Chris Taylor at a series of new workshops.

Other ex-professionals taking part include Richard Dawson who will help uncover the secrets of spin bowling and Andy Stovold who is taking a session on how to use bowling machines.

Run by the Gloucestershire Cricket Board Coaches Association this is the second year that coaches across the county have had the opportunity to learn from people with experience playing and coaching at the highest levels of the game.

GCBCA chairman Steve Cashmore said: “Following on from last year's success, we are pleased to offer coaches the opportunity to further enhance their coaching toolkit by attending these workshops.

 “Delivered by elite coaches working at the cutting edge of their profession they will pass on the latest ideas, drills and new approaches from their specialist area. We hope our coaches will benefit from seeing the very best in in their respective fields and pick up a wide range of fresh ideas to use in their coaching. In turn we hope this will benefit the next generation if young cricketers in the county.”

The workshops will take place in both the north and south of the county and cost £10 for GCBCA members and £15 for other coaches.

They include a session with Surrey fast bowling coach and ECB consultant Stuart Barnes, ‘batting from the Test arena to the playground’ with Gloucestershire CCC academy director Owen Dawkins and a fielding workshop from Somerset and England Lions fielding coach Chris Taylor.
