Ex-players reminisce about Cheltenham Festival ahead of memories match - with audio

England players from yesteryear including Graeme ‘Foxy' Fowler and Pat Pocock have been sharing their recollections of the Cheltenham Cricket Festival ahead of Gloucestershire’s T20 match with Surrey on July 18.

The NatWest Blast match has been designated as a ‘Cricket Memories Game’ to help raise awareness for dementia charity the Sporting Memories Network (SMN).

Supporters coming to the game on Friday will be able to share their own memories of Gloucestershire cricket and will have the chance to meet the club’s legendary former allrounder Mike Proctor at the SMN stall.

Other ex-players who have talked about their Cheltenham highlights from years gone by include Gloucestershire ‘keeper/batsman and coach Andy Stovold and England, Somerset, Derbyshire and Worcestershire seamer Fred Rumsey who founded the Professional Cricketers Association.

Former international umpire and Somerset cricketer Ken Palmer – who’s grandson James plays for Cheltenham College and the Gloucestershire Under 15s– also shared his memories of the famous College Ground.
