England U19s to close out 2024 Towergate Cheltenham Cricket Festival
14 July 2024
The 2024 Towergate Cheltenham Cricket Festival will come to a close in style this week as England U19s take on Sri Lanka U19s in a Youth Test match at Cheltenham College.
The first Youth Test of the two match series concluded in an exciting draw at Wormsley on 11th July. Freddie McCann and Keshana Fonseka top-scored with the bat for England U19s who only batted once in the match. In that innings of 247 for England, Sri Lanka's Praveen Maneesha claimed six wickets for only 56 runs off 21.3 overs.
Batting twice after losing the toss and being put into bat first in what was a rain-affected match, Sri Lanka posted 324 all out and 192/4.
England U19s have named a 14-player squad for the upcoming Youth Test match against Sri Lanka at Cheltenham College which will take place from Tuesday 16th July - Friday 19th July.
A win for either side at Cheltenham would ensure a series win.
England Men U19s Youth Test squad:
Hamza Shaikh (Warwickshire – captain), Farhan Ahmed (Nottinghamshire), Charlie Barnard (Lancashire), Jack Carney (unattached), Jaydn Denly (Kent), Rocky Flintoff (Lancashire), Kesh Fonseka (Lancashire), Alex French (Surrey), Alex Green (Leicestershire), Eddie Jack (Hampshire), Freddie McCann (Nottinghamshire), Harry Moore (Derbyshire), Noah Thain (Essex), Archie Vaughan (Somerset).
