England quartet to run Bristol coaching camp ahead of Ashes clash

21 May 2015

England women’s cricketers Charlotte Edwards, Tammy Beaumont, Lydia Greenway and Danielle Wyatt will deliver a coaching camp for girls from across Gloucestershire at the Bristol County Ground next week (May 26).

The day is designed to inspire them to play cricket and encourage them to watch the Women’s Ashes Royal London One Day International (ODI) match at the ground on July 23.

The visit, which is part of the players’ role as Chance to Shine Coaching Ambassadors, will see the England quartet deliver a Women’s Ashes themed day of cricket activity for girls aged 8-15.

Captain Charlotte Edwards is set to lead a power hitting practice, Lydia Greenway will run a sweeping masterclass, Danielle Wyatt will work with the bowlers and Tammy Beaumont wll help the girls develop the pull shot. The players - who will be assisted by coaches from the Gloucestershire Cricket Board - will also take part in question and answer sessions, run games and competitive net situations.

Speaking about the upcoming visit to Bristol, England women’s captain, Charlotte Edwards said: “I am really looking forward to helping out at the girls coaching camp at the Bristol County Ground next week, and hopefully inspiring the pupils to choose cricket. In addition, it’s a perfect opportunity to spread the word locally about the Women’s Ashes Royal London ODI at the Bristol County Ground on July 23. This summer we are aiming to win our third consecutive Women’s Ashes series against Australia, and we want all the support we can get. We love playing in front of big passionate crowds, so hopefully this will be the case in Bristol in July.

“My role as a Chance to Shine Coaching Ambassador is brilliant, as it allows me to combine playing international cricket with an opportunity to really make a difference at the grassroots of the game.”

Tickets for the England v Australia Women's Ashes match are £1 for Under 19s and £10 for adults when booked in advance (£15 on the day). To book click here.
