Double Century For Gloucestershire Skipper

21 February 2014

Michael Klinger is celebrating the fourth double century of his prolific career.

The 33-year-old Gloucestershire captain hit 213 for South Australia in a Sheffield Shield match against Victoria at Adelaide.

Unbeaten on 115 after the first day, Michael went on to hit 17 fours and two sixes in his 403-ball innings.

He was finally caught at deep mid-on from the off-spin of Glenn Marshall, having helped his side to 460-6 at that point.

South Australia eventually declared on 511-6, Klinger having shared a sixth-wicket stand of 174 with Tim Ludeman, who was unbeaten on 100 at the closure.

The innings was some way short of Michael's career-best score of 255, made for South Australia against Western Australia at Adelaide in 2008-09.

Michael has enjoyed an excellent season in all forms of cricket back in Australia, which bodes well for his return to Gloucestershire to begin a second season as skipper In April.
