Dom Goodman signs contract extension at Gloucestershire
31 July 2023
Bowler Dom Goodman has signed a one-year contract extension at Gloucestershire Cricket.
The new deal for the 22-year-old medium-fast bowler will see him remain at the Seat Unique Stadium until at least the end of the 2024 season.
Schooled at Clifton College in Bristol and latterly at the University of Exeter, Goodman made his debut for Gloucestershire against Somerset in Taunton in 2021. He claimed his maiden first-class wicket in the match and walked away with the best economy rate of any Glos bowler as Shire defeated Somerset by eight wickets.
Goodman has gone on to make nine appearances for Glos in First-Class and List A cricket across the last two seasons and has 10 wickets to his name.
His best bowling innings came against Durham at Chester-le-Street earlier earlier this season where he claimed four wickets for 73 runs.
Speaking of his delight at extending his time at Glos, Goodman said: “It’s brilliant to be staying in Bristol for another year and I'm very thankful for the opportunities Gloucestershire has given me over the last couple of seasons.
“I love playing here, we have a fantastic group of coaches and players who are full of ambition to win trophies and gain promotion once again. This is such an exciting prospect and I can’t wait for what the future holds. I’ll be sure to give my all to the club I’m so privileged and proud to represent.”
Gloucestershire Head Coach, Dale Benkenstein, added: "I'm really pleased Dom has committed his immediate future to Gloucestershire. He's had a hard time with injuries over the last few months but has often taken opportunities really well when presented with them.
"I'm excited to see how Dom progresses and continues to improve over the next year or so; he's one of many talented young players we have here currently and players like Dom will have a big part to play in the future of the Club."
