Dent Back To Take On Hampshire
20 June 2014
Chris Dent returns to Gloucestershire’s team for the NatWest T20 Blast match against Hampshire at Southampton tonight (7.00 pm start).
Having missed the last three T20 fixtures with a badly bruised thumb, Chris returned to action this week in the drawn Second XI Championship match with Kent at Maidstone.
Will Gidman has been named in a squad of 12 for this evening’s game, having previously been confined to LV= County Championship cricket this season.
But Geraint Jones is unable to make what would have been the final appearance of his spell on loan from Kent because of an on-going eye problem.
With Gareth Roderick still ruled out by a finger injury, Cameron Herring will again keep wicket.
Gloucestershire will be seeking their third NatWest T20 Blast victory of the season against a Hampshire side placed second in the South Division, with four wins from six matches.
Having begun the campaign with a two-point deduction, Michael Klinger’s side need a good result to keep in touch with the top four in the group, those positions ultimately offering qualification for the quarter-finals.
Gloucestershire travel straight back after the game to start a Championship fixture against Glamorgan at the County Ground tomorrow.
Glamorgan also have a NatWest T20 Blast game tonight against Surrey at Cardiff. The Championship game will therefore start at noon tomorrow instead of 11.00 am.
Gloucestershire (v Hampshire) from: Michael Klinger (capt), Alex Gidman, Chris Dent, Ian Cockbain, Hamish Marshall, Benny Howell, Cameron Herring (wkt), Will Gidman, Tom Smith, Jack Taylor, Graeme McCarter, David Payne.
