Dent And Klinger Launch Positive Reply
22 August 2013
Chris Dent (pictured) and Michael Klinger launched a spirited reply after Kent had extended their first innings total to 474 on the second day of the LV=County Championship match at Canterbury.
The Gloucestershire openers put together an unbroken stand of 80, Dent moving to 44 not out by the close, with Klinger on 31.
Earlier Darren Stevens had become the second centurion of the Kent innings, moving from an overnight 98 to 126 before falling to the bowling of Benny Howell, who finished with 2-66 from 19 overs.
James Tredwell (49) and Calum Haggett (44) ensured Kent built on a strong overnight position, but with the pitch still playing well and both captains keen to force a decisive result the match is still in the balance.
Liam Norwell (3-104), David Payne (2-109) and Craig Miles (2-85) were the other main Gloucestershire wicket-takers after rain had prevented any play before lunch.
