Dent And Gidman Back To Face Hampshire

11 June 2013

Chris Dent (pictured) and Will Gidman return to Gloucestershire's squad after injury for the LV=County Championship match against Hampshire at Southampton, starting on Wednesday.

And both go into the game in good form after contributing to a four-wicket victory over Kent in a Second XI Trophy game at Bristol Cricket Club.

Opener Dent made an unbeaten 74 following a back injury, helping his side to 134-6 in reply to Kent's 132, in which Mike Powell made 73 not out.

Gidman also suggested he is ready for a return to first team action after an ankle problem by claiming 4-15 in the Kent innings and then contributing 18 with the bat.

Mike O'Shea returned 2-21 and Paul Muchall 2-35 as Gloucestershire's bowlers paved the way for a convincing win.

It completed a good weekend for Dent and Gidman, who were also in good form in club cricket, helping Thornbury to a 31-run win over Cheltenham in the West Of England League.

Gidman top scored with 81 and then claimed 2-29, while Dent hit 33 and then returned 5-60 with his off-breaks,

County team-mate Richard Coughtrie was in the Cheltenham line-up and he scored 50 before becoming one of Dent's victims.

Gloucestershire go into the Hampshire game sixth in the Championship Second Division, one place below their opponents, with 62 points from seven games.

But they are only 12 points behind second placed Worcestershire, who have played a game more.
