David And Liam Back In Action

16 May 2012

David Payne (pictured) and Liam Norwell are set to return to action after injury in the three-day game against Cambridge University at Fenner's, starting on Friday.

Both seam bowlers have been named in a squad of 12. Payne has missed most of the season so far with a side injury, while Norwell has been struggling with a hip problem.

Liam also missed most of last season with a stress fracture in his back after a six-wicket haul in the opening LV=County Championship home game with Derbyshire so he will be particularly keen to prove his fitness.

Skipper Alex Gidman, who misses the University game, will be hoping both bowlers come through unscathed as he is keen to rotate his seam attack this season.

Hamish Marshall will lead the side on Friday. The squad also includes Dan Housego, fit again after the shoulder injury that allowed Benny Howell to take his first team place.

Howell will open the batting with Chris Dent, with Husego at three against the students. Four seamers have been named in the 12, with Graeme McCarter and David Wade joining Payne and Norwell.
