County Championship Preview | Yorkshire vs Gloucestershire
22 June 2024
Gloucestershire head to the seaside town of Scarborough to face Yorkshire as the Vitality County Championship season resumes on Sunday.
Mark Alleyne’s side go into the match in fourth place in the Division Two table on 90 points from seven matches, only 11 points off the promotion places. Shire are on a four-game unbeaten streak in the Championship, a run which saw them pick up a comprehensive win away at Northamptonshire in game week five. Having only lost one match so far this season, Gloucestershire find themselves well-placed to mount a push for promotion in the second half of the season.
Yorkshire, meanwhile, have five draws and two defeats to their name so far this season and will be hoping to get that all-important first win of the campaign on the board against Gloucestershire. The hosts are 13 points behind Shire in the table on 77 points, just seven points off bottom place Derbyshire.
TEAM NEWS
Mark Alleyne selects a 13-man squad for the first red-ball match for almost a month, with fast bowlers Dom Goodman and Zaman Akhter returning to the squad alongside a fit again Chris Dent.
Marchant de Lange and Matt Taylor are rested, while Tom Price and Zafar Gohar remain sidelined.

LAST MEETING
Last time out against Yorkshire at the Seat Unique Stadium in Bristol, Gloucestershire secured a well-earned draw thanks to a gutsy batting performance in the second innings. Ollie Price once again showed his class with a magnificent 147 and was backed up superbly a patient 102 from James Bracey.
Chasing 498 for victory, Gloucestershire ran out of time with four wickets in hand and 406 runs on the board.
