County Championship preview | Glamorgan vs Gloucestershire

Gloucestershire travel to Glamorgan for the final County Championship fixture of the 2024 season tomorrow (Thursday).

England and Wales’ two white ball champions go head-to-head in the final red ball game of the season in Cardiff, with both sides looking to end the Championship season on a high.

Mark Alleyne’s side go into the match having lost their lost outing in Division Two to Sussex, who have since been promoted to Division One. Glamorgan, meanwhile, have lost three of their last five matches and most recently, succumbed to a 186-run defeat the hands of Yorkshire.

With 13 matches played Gloucestershire sit in sixth place in Division Two on 141 points while Glamorgan sit in seventh place with 129 points.

A win for Gloucestershire in Cardiff could lift them up to fourth place in the final standings.

Mark Alleyne selects a 13-man squad for the short trip to Cardiff tomorrow.

Batter Ben Charlesworth (hand) and bowler Marchant de Lange (hamstring) remain sidelined for the final outing of the season.

Glamorgan have won one, drawn seven, lost four and tied one of their 13 County Championship matches so far this season.

In the last outing vs Gloucestershire, Glamorgan played their part in a historic first-class match at Cheltenham College that resulted in a tied match off the last ball on day four.

The remarkable conclusion to the fixture came after Glamorgan were tasked with chasing down a world record target of 593. But it wasn’t to be, as Ajeet Singh Dale found the edge of McIlroy’s bat to ensure the match ended with the scores level after four days of play.
