Coughtrie Steps Up For Sell-Out Game

14 July 2013

Richard Coughtrie makes his first appearance of the season as Gloucestershire play their first ever Friends Life t20 game at Cheltenham against Warwickshire this afternoon.

Gareth Roderick is rested for the sell-out match and Coughtrie takes his place behind the stumps for what should be a memorable occasion.

Director of Cricket John Bracewell said: "We're resting Gareth Roderick, given that he spent a lot of time in the Championship match with Kent trying to put the opposition under pressure and I don't him to wear out.

"It's an enforced rest and in his case a reluctant one because he wants to play in front of a full house and this is one of his home areas. It's disappointing for him, but Richard comes in and he's an extremely talented wicketkeeper."

Craig Miles and Will Gidman will also be rested, but Hamish Marshall is expected to play after not being able to field against Kent yesterday due to illness.

Gloucestershire need a win to revive their hopes of qualifying for the quarter-finals, following three defeats in their first four Midlands/Wales/West Group games.
