Club Announcement - Alan Haines

18 January 2013

Gloucestershire County Cricket Club regret to announce the death of former Chairman Alan Haines.  Alan died in Cheltenham Hospital on 17 January after a short illness.

Alan was an enthusiastic supporter of the Club for over 50 years, serving in many positions on Committees.  He was a key member of the Council, and was also Chairman of Gloucester, subsequently after amalgamation Severn Region, where he worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the Gloucester Festival.  Much of the essential sponsorship for the Festival at the Waggonworks Ground and later at Kings School was secured through his efforts.

Alan also served on the County Club's Management Committee from 1991, became Vice Chairman in 1996, and was Chairman of the Club from 2002 until 2005

Our thoughts are with Brenda, Alan’s sons Martin and Richard and their families.

Funeral arrangements will be advised in due course.
