Charlesworth helps Young Lions to victory in Antigua
4 December 2019
Ben Charlesworth’s opening partnership of 82 with Sussex’s Tom Clark was enough to see England under 19s past Antigua XI in a One-Day tour match.
England cruised to a 10-wicket victory in northern Antigua after the Caribbean side won the toss, elected to bat and then could only muster 81 runs.
Charlesworth, who has been Jon Lewis’ first name on the team sheet for some time now, finished on 28 off 37 with five boundaries alongside Tom Clark who contributed 47 runs.
Hamidullah Qadri was the pick of the bowlers for the English team picking up four wickets in nine overs.
The under 19s travelled to the Caribbean in late November to take part in a 50-over tri-series with West Indies and Sri Lanka. Antigua XI at the picturesque Coolidge Cricket Ground served as a warmup for the challenging fixtures ahead.
