Celebrate International Women's Day with Glos player Melissa Story and GCF disability athletes
28 February 2025
In partnership with the Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation, the Club is proud to celebrate International Women’s Day 2025 with an inspiring morning of discussions, networking, and refreshments in the Club's Jessop Suite at the Seat Unique Stadium on Sunday 09 March, from 10:30am to 12:30am.
'Wickets and Women' is an opportunity to network, share experiences, and celebrate the achievements of women in cricket. This event is open to anyone who wishes to attend and will provide a relaxed and engaging environment for discussions and connections.
The spotlight will be on the achievements and stories of women in cricket. Trailblazing broadcaster and Gloucestershire Women's player Melissa Story will host her own Q&A at 11:30am. Before then, disability athletes Shravani Philpot and Liara Hampton, who have excelled in their respective fields, will share their experiences in a Q&A session at 11:00am.
Attendees are invited to enjoy cakes, coffee, and refreshments while engaging in conversations during a networking session from 12:00pm. The session will provide a platform for players, parents, club representatives, sponsors, and advocates to connect and discuss ways to support and promote inclusivity in sports.
Women's and Girls Development Manager at the Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation Charlotte Moore, who organised the event, said:
"Running IWD events are really important because it's a chance for us to celebrate, connect and advocate for Women and Girls in sport.
"I'm really excited for our upcoming event, as it is a chance for us to really celebrate Women and Girls' cricket within Gloucestershire and hear from some exciting players who have been on incredible journeys."
