Cameron Bancroft returns to Australia after winning Vitality Blast with Gloucestershire
16 September 2024
Cameron Bancroft has travelled back to Australia following Gloucestershire’s historic victory over Somerset to win the 2024 T20 Vitality Blast on Saturday.
Having scored 39 vs Sussex Sharks in the semi-final and then 53 vs Somerset in the final, Bancroft has returned home to prepare for the domestic cricket season with Western Australia.
A talented top-order batter, Bancroft, who scored more than 1,600 runs for Gloucestershire across all formats this season, will link up with Western Australia upon his arrival back Down Under in readiness for their first competitive fixture of the new campaign on 22nd September.
Bancroft’s release from Gloucestershire before the end of the English domestic season was agreed between the two clubs and will see him miss Shire’s final two County Championship matches against Sussex and Glamorgan.
Ever-present in Mark Alleyne’s side across all three formats this season, Bancroft has provided a vital contribution both on an off the field throughout 2024. Having scored 832 runs in County Championship cricket and more than 700 runs in white ball cricket this season, Bancroft has been a hugely influential member of the squad and everyone at the Club would like to thank Bancroft for his efforts throughout this campaign.
Gloucestershire is excited to welcome Bancroft back to the Seat Unique Stadium ahead of the 2025 season and wishes him the very best of luck for the 2024/25 campaign with Western Australia.
