25 August 2015
The ECB have today announced the international programme for 2016, with Bristol hosting a Royal London One-Day International against Sri Lanka:
England v Sri Lanka, Royal London One-Day International
Sunday 26 June - the club will be announcing ticket information shortly
The international season will start with England seeking to avenge last year’s 1-0 Investec Test series defeat and 3-2 Royal London ODI series defeat against the Sri Lankans who are currently the world’s number one ranked side in T20 international cricket.
Following three Investec Test matches, Bristol will host the third Royal London One-Day International of the series.
ECB Chief Executive Officer Tom Harrison said: “Alastair Cook was absolutely right to acknowledge the contribution of England’s fans to our Ashes success. They have been unwavering in their support this summer and we would urge as many as possible to return to our international venues next summer – and get behind our men’s and women’s teams in large numbers once again.
”Both Pakistan and Sri Lanka will also attract strong support from their own communities in this country which all adds up to another exciting summer of international action played in front of packed houses for all three formats of the game.”
Gloucestershire Cricket CEO Will Brown said; "We are absolutely delighted to be hosting an England vs Sri Lanka Royal London ODI next June. Sri Lanka have consistently been one of the best one day sides in the world and will provide a tough and exciting challenge for a resurgent England. To be hosting the pivotal third match in a 5 match series will make the day all the more dramatic and the fact that the match is on a Sunday will mean that a sell-out crowd and a fantastic atmosphere is guaranteed."
The club will be announcing ticket information shortly. Sign up to the newsletter on the homepage to keep up to date with ticket information.
