Brewin Dolphin Cheltenham Cricket Festival to feature international matches for first time

21 June 2016

Gloucestershire Cricket is looking forward to its annual Brewin Dolphin Cheltenham Cricket Festival, which promises to be bigger and better than everMembers, hospitality guests and ticket buyers alike will be able to enjoy an exciting programme of events and entertainment to complement the First Class cricket programme which this year includes International cricket for the first time.

Brewin Dolphin, who are one of the UK’s award winning and leading wealth managers, offer a personalised wealth management service, bespoked to meet their clients’ diverse and varied needs.  Established over 250 years ago, they have built a network of 28 offices across the UK, Channel Islands and Ireland and have been the Festival’s principal sponsor since 2012.  They have been involved with Gloucestershire Cricket for over 17 years, supporting the Club and its on-going development.

Gloucestershire County Cricket Club has been playing First Class cricket at the iconic Cheltenham College Ground since 1872 – making this the world’s longest running cricket festival to be played at an out ground.  The College’s idyllic setting has provided a perfect backdrop for the Festival throughout its history, and continues to be a great attraction for all cricket fans, both old and new.

The 2016 Festival includes the chance to see Gloucestershire across all three formats of the game, including the Royal London One-Day Cup which they won in thrilling style at Lord’s last year.  This year’s event, which runs from Wednesday 13 July to Sunday 24 July, will pitch Richard Dawson’s men against Sussex in that competition, face highly-rated Essex in both the NatWest T20 Blast and the Specsavers County Championship and also entertain a resurgent Leicestershire in the four-day format.

Additionally, Gloucestershire Cricket is proud to host Pakistan A v Sri Lanka A and England Lions v Pakistan A during the second week of the Festival.  This will be a great chance to see up and coming International stars of the future.

The idyllic setting will also provide the perfect stage for some of the top names in world cricket to entertain the famously passionate Cheltenham crowds.  These include Gloucestershire’s Australian duo Michael Klinger (all formats) and Andrew Tye (T20).  A prolific run scorer on both sides of the planet, Klinger returns to the College Ground having been named the ‘Most Valuable Player’ (MVP) in last year’s NatWest T20 Blast and Royal London One-Day Cup competitions.

With such a packed programme of cricket BIG crowds are expected and supporters are urged to buy their tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.  Historically, one day matches tend to sell out fast.

Match Day Tickets cost from just £15 for adults and £3 for under 18’s when purchased in advance or why not treat yourself to a Cheltenham Festival Pass and see 12 days of First Class and International cricket for only £120 (a saving of £65) or a Sunday Pass for just £30.00.  Under 16’s can enjoy every day of the Festival (plus domestic matches at Bristol) by becoming a Marshall Member for just £20.

The best way to buy tickets is online at www.gloscricket.co.uk, where we have waived booking fees.  Alternatively you can call the ticket line on 0117 910 8010.

Off the pitch, the Festival will once again offer a fantastic array of refreshments, hospitality and entertainment.  Full details are to be announced soon but will include the ever-popular Ladies’ Day which will grace the Festival on Thursday 21 July in aid of the Cheltenham & Gloucester Hospitals Charity.

Supporters can also enjoy superb views from one of our hospitality marquees; a popular attraction and a great way to treat clients or friends or for those celebrating a special occasion.  Packages - including a delicious lunch and afternoon tea – are available from £60 per person.  More information on hospitality, including Ladies’ Day, is available from Cariad Silk who can be contacted on 0117 910 8022 or email cariad.silk@glosccc.co.uk.
