"Bowlers are key to success this summer" - Mustard
18 January 2017
The Gloucestershire Cricket bowlers can be the key to bringing success to The Brightside Ground this summer according to Phil 'The Colonel' Mustard.
Mustard, the 34-year old batsman, has been impressed with the amount of young and hungry bowlers at the club.
“It’s crucial that our bowlers stay fit this summer. I have been very impressed with the quality on show at the club, especially the amount of talented bowlers we have.”
“If we can keep all the bowlers injury free, we will be a dangerous team in all formats of the game”
Ex-England international Mustard, who signed a two year contract at the club following a loan spell in 2016, is keen for the season to begin and is focused on one aspect.
"It’s all about winning" said Mustard, who recently joined the team for pre-season training following the Christmas break.
"I am looking forward to getting back out there and playing competitive cricket for Gloucestershire."
Having scored more than 7000 runs in 185 First Class appearances for Durham and represented England on 12 occasions, Mustard is happy to pass on his knowledge following the departure of Hamish Marshall.
“I am used to being one of the more experienced and senior guys in the dressing room and that was the case at Durham.
“With Hamish no longer around, I am happy to offer my advice and knowledge to the team and hopefully help a few of the guys out during pre-season and on match-days.”
