Ben Charlesworth suffers stress fracture to foot
27 April 2022
Gloucestershire batter Ben Charlesworth has suffered a stress fracture to his foot and will be unavailable for selection for several weeks.
The 21-year-old sustained the injury during Gloucestershire’s second County Championship match of the season against Yorkshire on 14 – 18 April.
He will require a period of sustained recovery to enable his foot to heal as quickly and safely as possible before being able to return to light training. Ben will be supported through his recovery and rehabilitation by Gloucestershire’s medical team who will re-introduce Ben to cricket-related training post-recovery.
It is likely that Ben will be out of first-team action for several weeks and may not return to full fitness until at least mid-summer.
Steve Snell, Performance Director at Gloucestershire Cricket, said: “It’s obviously a big blow for Ben at this time of the season and for the squad, but the coaching staff and medical team will support him in every way we can to help get Ben back to full fitness as quickly as possible.
“We’re hopeful having Ben back with the first team during the second half of the season.”
Everyone at Gloucestershire Cricket wishes Ben a speedy and safe recovery.
