An Open Letter from Graeme van Buuren
17 January 2025
Dear Members, Supporters, Staff and Teammates,
It is with a deep sense of pride and humility that I announce my decision to step down as Club Captain of Gloucestershire County Cricket Club.
Serving as your Captain has been one of the greatest privileges of my career. From the camaraderie in the dressing room to the unwavering support from the office staff and fans, the journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. I am truly grateful for the trust and confidence you have all placed in me over the years.
A heartfelt thank you goes to my fellow players, coaches, and staff for their dedication, passion, and hard work, day in and day out. It has been an honour to lead such a talented and committed group of individuals. To our supporters, whether near or far, thank you for your loyalty and encouragement over the last three years. It has been an immense privilege to represent this remarkable Club as Captain.
I would also like to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to my wife, Hannah, our children, and my extended family. Their love, patience, and support have been invaluable to me throughout this journey, and I am forever thankful for their role in this chapter of my life.
Although my time as Captain has come to a close, my passion for Gloucestershire and my commitment to the team remains as strong as ever. I look forward to continuing to contribute to the club in new ways, both on and off the field.
Thank you once again for everything. It has been an honour to serve as your Captain.
With heartfelt thanks,
Graeme van Buuren
