Ambassador Tavare leads local Wicketz training session
20 February 2018
Youngsters from Wicketz Bristol were treated to a batting masterclass from Gloucestershire Cricket batsman Will Tavare.
Will – who is an ambassador for the Lord’s Taverners which funds the Wicketz programme – gave tips and advice to aspiring cricketers at the Southmead and Knowle hubs.
The 28-year-old also signed autographs and ran a coaching practice used by him and his fellow professionals. He also conducted a question and answer session with the children, who are aged -8-16.
Will said: “I briefly met the Wicketz programme kids at the county ground last year and to get involved again was brilliant. The boys and girls all got stuck in and it was great to see some new faces. Some of them were picking up the bat for the first time – not that you would have known it. I left the session with a big smile on my face and hopefully the children did too.”
