ALFRED TAKES GOLD IN T20 MASCOT RACE - VIDEO

22 August 2016

Gloucestershire Cricket secured the most prestigious medal of the weekend as Alfred, our Gorilla mascot, won the NatWest T20 Blast mascot race!

After weeks of phenomenal sporting achievements at the Rio Olympics 2016, it might just be that Alfred (Bristol Zoo's most famous resident) has stolen the limelight with a finishing dive that Tom Daley would have been proud of.

The race was largely led by Nottinghamshire's 'Nuts The Squirrel', but Alfred managed to keep with the break away pack around the Edgbaston playing field.

After manoeuvring over and around various obstacles, it was left to a dramatic sprint finish between Alfred and 'Nuts' as they left the remaining mascots trailing behind.

With just five yards left of the race and Nuts The Squirrel still leading, Alfred produced a winning leap that saw him rocket past Nuts over the finish line and secure the Gold medal for Gloucestershire.

Alfred will be in attendance at the Gloucestershire Cricket End Of Season Awards Dinner taking place in September. Click here for more information.
