Ajeet Singh Dale signs two-year contract extension until 2025
13 January 2023
Fast bowler Ajeet Singh Dale will stay at Gloucestershire until at least 2025 after extending his existing deal by two years.
An important member of the Club’s exciting group of young bowlers, Singh Dale took his first Gloucestershire wickets on debut against Northants in the opening fixture of last season.
An unfortunate medium-term injury ruled Singh Dale out of a proportion of last season, but he returned to the side in August taking two wickets in Gloucestershire’s Royal London Cup campaign.
An impressive end to the season saw the 22-year-old claim seven wickets in total against Somerset, Warwickshire and Yorkshire in Glos’ final three Championship fixtures.
Singh Dale finished the 2022 season with 18 wickets in the red ball format, averaging 35.83 with a strike rate of 54.9.
On his two-year extension, Singh Dale said:
“I’m absolutely delighted. It gives me a good platform to push on and keep working on my skills over the next three seasons.
“I feel like I’ve improved on a few things, mainly getting faster. I’m really looking forward to the start of the season.
“This year the buzz in the changing room is really good. The focus this year is to get promoted to Division One, win a trophy of some sort and push hard in all three formats. We’re a lot clearer going into the season.”
The young seamer signed from Hampshire in September 2021 after impressing Gloucestershire coaches while playing for the south coast side’s Second XI, taking match figures of 5/30 against Glos at Rockhampton CC.
Steve Snell, Performance Director at Gloucestershire Cricket, said:
“We’re delighted Ajeet has signed with us until at least 2025. Ajeet had a breakthrough season with us in 2022 showing he can bowl with real pace and also move the red ball laterally. He also has an excellent attitude and has developed his skills with the white ball too.
“Towards the back end of the 2022 season Ajeet was outstanding and it was great to see him put a run of games together. We’re hugely excited about Ajeet’s potential in all formats of the game and are extremely pleased that he will be with Gloucestershire for at least the next three seasons.”
