Gloucestershire will be represented in this week’s second Ashes Test at Lord’s after first team scorer Adrian Bull was chosen to officiate.

Adrian (pictured) will be keeping score in a Test for the first time after being selected by the Association of County Cricket Scorers.

And he says he can’t wait for the famous bell to ring at 11am on Thursday for the start of play.

Adrian_BullHe said: “I will probably have to pinch myself when the first ball is bowled. It is a great honour to be asked and I am really looking forward to it.

“It is a great privilege to get to score a Test Match but England v Australia at Lord’s has to be the ultimate game.”

Adrian has scored for Knowle CC for 40 years after first becoming interested as a youngster. He became Gloucestershire Second XI scorer in 2006 before taking over first team duties in 2011 following the retirement of Keith Gerrish.

In an honour of the teams and organisations he is affiliated to Adrian will be wearing different ties throughout the match. As well as his Gloucestershire and Knowle ties he will also sport the colours of the Bristol Association of Cricket Umpires and Scorers (BACUS).

Adrian has scored at the Home of Cricket for Gloucestershire on a number of occasions and is looking forward to sampling the Lord’s lunches again.

He picks out the 2005 Ashes series and Ian Botham’s exploits in 1981 as his favourite England v Australia memories but insists he will be keep his emotions in check while scoring.

He said: “A scorer should always remain neutral so I will be happy with a draw.

“I just hope it is a good match and lasts longer than Gloucestershire’s LV= County Championship game against Northants last week which finished in two days.”

Adrian will miss Gloucestershire’s Division Two match with Leicestershire at the Brewin Dolphin Cheltenham Cricket Festival where he will be replaced by former first team scorer Keith Gerrish.
