A Lord’s debut in print: Jack Russell’s tribute to David ‘Syd Lawrence
17 April 2025
As a heartfelt tribute to his dear friend, David ‘Syd’ Lawrence, who is bravely facing the challenge of Motor Neurone Disease, Jack Russell MBE has created a truly stunning painting that captures a moment of their shared friendship and cricketing journey.
The artwork depicts the two friends on their Test debut at Lord’s – Syd Lawrence bowling from the Pavilion end, with Jack Russell behind the stumps, keeping wicket.
This limited-edition series, which is restricted to 300 prints, beautifully rejuvenates that special moment from 1988.
Each print is not only titled, numbered, and signed by the artist, but it also carries the personal touch of the Jack Russell Gallery stamp, ensuring its authenticity.
Measuring 19 inches by 13 inches, with an additional two-inch white border, the print is a timeless reminder of a special chapter in Gloucestershire’s and England’s cricketing history.
All donations go to David 'Syd' Lawerence and his family.

Additionally, Gloucestershire will be hosting 'Pink 4 Syd' on Friday 20 June in partnership with MND Association.
During the T20 Blast home fixture against Hampshire Hawks, Gloucestershire players will wear limited edition pink adidas playing shirts, and supporters are encouraged to wear something pink to show their support for Syd and the MND Association.
