This will be the first time Ireland have played an ODI in Bristol.

Lord's Cricket Ground will host the second match of the series on Sunday 7 May.

England and Ireland have met seven times in ODIs, with the only bilateral fixtures between the two teams so far taking place in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland.

They have also met twice in the ICC Cricket World Cup, in 2007, and most famously in 2011, when Ireland stunned their more illustrious neighbours in Bangalore.

Former MCC Young Cricketer Kevin O'Brien smashed a 50-ball century as Ireland spectacularly chased down 327 - arguably the most momentous occasion in Ireland's cricket history.

ECB Director, England Cricket Andrew Strauss, who led England in Ireland’s inaugural ODI back in 2006, said: "We’ve been hugely impressed by the major strides Irish cricket has made in the last decade and all their players will be savouring the opportunity to play a full one-day international at the Home of Cricket for the first time, as well as taking on England at Bristol.

"Ireland’s past performances in ICC Cricket World Cups have shown just how competitive they can be in the 50-Over format; they will definitely provide our one-day squad with a tough test ahead of next summer’s ICC Champions Trophy and I’m sure both these games will be great cricketing occasions with a strong Irish presence in the crowd at each venue."

Previous international matches at The Brightside Ground have sold out, so we are advising supporters to book early to avoid disappointment. Book tickets here
